The last time I wrote about Monopoly, I had found a variety of different versions of the game. While I was doing my research for ‘The Crazy Cat Lady Game’, I found two new versions that I hadn’t seen before. These games include cats in the Monopoly concept! In fact, one is even called Cat-opoly!
Strangely enough, the games did not turn up on my search for different Monopoly games. I guess that is the reason why many people are missing out on getting it for their collections!
While Amazon India did not have any ratings, the Amazon.com does have a number of buyers. A 4.8 star out of 200 odd reviews made me take a second look at this game! Let’s take a look at how Cat-opoly works!
How Does It work?
Cat-opoly is very much like traditional Monopoly. The only difference is that the game incorporates some very interesting twists. It is a game that is designed for anywhere between 2-6 players.
If you’ve played Monopoly before, you will know that a lot of the fun is linked to the customized tokens. Cat-opoly uses a innovative tokens. These tokens resemble a milk bottle, a mouse, sardines, fish, cat food and even a ball of yarn!
The rest of the game is pretty much the same. Here everyone is out to be the first one to get as many cats as possible (In traditional monopoly you bid for properties). The tax which typically used to be Income tax has now taken on a new look. A player may have to pay ‘Dog’ tax in order to escape from the neighborhood bully!
Remember sitting in jail while the others continued playing for three rounds? Here in Cat-opoly there is no jail. You can however fall in the water and have to sit out three rounds. After all a wet cat needs to dry off!
CAT LOVER’S MONOPOLY
Like the previous set, this monopoly set also features cats. The concept of the game is the same. The tokens are however made of pewter and are shaped to form a scratching post, a mouse, a sleeping cat, a milk bottle, a can of tuna and a fish.
The Cat lover’s Monopoly is a game which is designed for the family. It is a game which any individual above the age of 8 years can participate. Younger children don’t have to be left out either. Under adult supervision, younger children can team up with a partner and play!
Games are a great way to connect and to relieve stress. If you and your friends love cats then consider playing Cat-opoly. It’s fun! It’s different! It’s a great way to collect cats too!
