Monopoly and parties? Sounds like an unusual combination but here is why it is an extremely good idea!
Breaking the ice can be a tedious task especially if you are involving more than one unknown. What do I mean by the unknown? I mean that if there are people who don’t know each other and everyone is combined together in a single room, then you have just one outcome… Awkward silence!
Silence is the one thing that every host fears. So, how can you combat this awkward silence and be a good host at the same time? The difficulty that most people face is that they can’t engage more than one person in conversation at the same time. To make matters worse, a good host also has to ensure that everyone has enough food to eat and you also need to ensure that their glasses are full! Some people make it look easy but if you’ve been put on the spot at anytime, you will realize that it isn’t as simple as it looks.
There is a simple way to get out of this tight spot. All you have to do is get everyone engaged in a game. While this may sound childish at first, I urge you to keep an open mind. There are number of games that adults find both challenging and interesting.
Let’s use the board game Monopoly for an example.
One of the games that has been an all time favorite among kids and adults is the board game Monopoly. In fact, most of the adults of our generation will remember playing Monopoly as children. This is because Monopoly originated in United States somewhere in the middle of 1903. Monopoly is a game that can engage anywhere between 2 to 8 individuals at a time. Since the rules are extremely easy to follow, anybody above 8 years of age can play the game easily.
Monopoly has a simple concept behind it. Every player moves around the board in turn and acquires property. The player can build houses or hotels on the property as he chooses. If another player lands on his property, the other player has to pay him rent. This is just one way in which the player can gain revenue.
The whole aim of the game is to continue buying and selling property until a player goes bankrupt.
As time passed, the game became more and more popular. Now, while the rules of the game remain the same, a number of different versions of the same game have arisen over time. Let’s take a look at the different varieties of monopoly sets that are available today.
MONOPOLY ORIGINAL BY FUNSKOOL
The Funskool Monopoly Original is the original version of the game. All the seniors and adults who have played this game as children will recognize the classic red and white box that this game has. While the other Monopoly versions have a lot of added thrills and frills, I find the classic Monopoly look quite alluring. It takes me back to the good old days where we sat around the table taking turns. It was a great way to pass time when the monsoons hit and our houses were devoid of electricity. Needless to say, the family monopoly game had its fair share of candle wax on it.
Funskool’s Monopoly Original has always had a special place in my heart. Maybe it’s just the nostalgic side of me but I can’t help it. Old is gold I guess!
MONOPOLY E-BANKING BY HASBRO
Have you ever got annoyed when playing monopoly? Yes… Many people tend to get annoyed when they are losing but I still remember getting annoyed because it was always difficult to manage the money. A gust of wind on a hot summer day was sure to scatter my precious notes around. How I wish we had the modern Monopoly E-banking back in those days!
The Hasbro Monopoly Electronic Banking Board Game does away with all the chaos with a simple credit card machine. You heard right! The Monopoly set is completely modernized and comes equipped with a small hand held credit card machine. Each of the players is given a credit card to use. This comes in extremely handy and makes the game even more portable than it was before.
The Hasbro’s Monopoly E-banking board game can be played by 2-4 players at a time. It’s a game packed with excitement and fun. The innovative credit card system sure adds a lot of spice to the game. Enjoy an action packed evening with your friends as everyone fights to be the banker. After all… Operating the credit card machine is the best part of the game isn’t it?
MONOPOLY INDIA BY FUNSKOOL
The Funskool Monopoly India Edition is a great way to indulge into a little of India’s vast history and culture. How? Each of the landmarks that are placed on the board refers to one of the famous cities or towns in India. It’s quite like a road trip through the country only you have to wait for the turn of the dice to know where you will land next!
The game follows the same model that the original game setup. The only difference lies is in the towns and cities that are marked on the path. This model has the names of all Indian cities. Have fun while you make your way through the most famous cities that India has to offer. Guess what! You can buy them too! So start buying and building up your property profile. There is a lot of money to be made from the land you buy!
MONOPOLY EMPIRE GAME BY HASBRO
Hasbro Games has added a new twist in Monopoly. Their Monopoly board game design is called the Monopoly Empire Game. The game makes the players focus on creating an empire. The difference here is that each tile symbolizes a brand and the empire is the collection of all the brands that you buy. I find that this is an interesting twist in the usual monopoly tale.
Another interesting difference in this game is that, the player doesn’t build houses. Instead the player needs to put up billboards on the tower that they erect. Just makes the game a little more different from the conventional monopoly point of view.
